Jaapie mate told me a story of when hunting on the veldt. A Leopard jumped on the back of the open truck. His mate a strong rugby type managed to hold the cats front paws at bay. Then it pulled up it's hind legs and ripped his stomach out.

Just an FYI watch out for the hind legs

You only have to look at domestic cats to see they are pschyos, very small psychos, but still psychos.

How little imagination can you have, if you can't figure out what's likely to happen if you scale them up to the point where they are no longer physically intimidated by you?

What is it with Chinese and Japanese tourists? I've seen numerous examples of both risking life and limb for a fucking photo.

I was in Iceland and there's a couple of spectacular, but spectacularly dangerous pounding Atlantic coast beaches. Lots of Chinese tourists at the edge of the surf holding their arms out, back to the sea for photos. Despite warning signs all over the beach actually showing press cuttings of some idiot Chinese tourist who was swept out and died a couple of months before.

Oh I respect the bush all right- but that's a different story.

You are right though, people are pretty stupid when it comes to cats. Most people think that a cat sleeps all day but a cat is never really asleep.

I went to London Zoo with a girl once in the winter and as we pressed our noses against the glass to see a lion asleep on top of a platform I remember saying something like 'you never really get to see a lion properly in this enclosure as they are always asleep'.

Just as I said it a duck flew over and this lion that I thought was asleep leapt an almost unbelievable height and snatched the duck from the air. It was absolutely fucking amazing unless you are a duck.

We legged it around to the other window and the lion put the dead duck down and started pulling its feathers out making little grunting, snarling noises.

It must be quite common with enclosed lions because I always seem to notice a pile of feathers in a big cat's enclosure.

A few years ago I went to a Lion sanctuary in South Africa and you could drive through the massive enclosure the lions were in. I was talking to someone who worked there and they said they usually lost at least 1 tourist a year. People would see a lion a reasonable distance from them, wind the window down to take a photo and a lion is so fast, that would be that. He said the victims were mainly Chinese tourists.

We were allowed into an enclosure with about 30 lion-cubs. They were great but more like lizards than cats in the way they seemed to look through you.

I was there with a pal who's about 6ft 3 and was in the South African Army. He got down on his hands and knees in front of a little lion-cub and it jumped on his back, flipped him over and held on to his neck in a vice-like grip. Everyone thought it was funny (especially his kids) but there was literally nothing he could do about it.

Don't fuck with lions!

The European/Eurasian Lion has only been extinct for ~13,000 years.

Cave paintings sometimes show it with faint stripes, and few have manes (and some of the maneless ones are clearly male).

You'd be surprised how stupid people are. Just back from Safari in Sa - saw a pride of lions - some dumb ass got out of his car to get closer to take a picture - respect the bush....

A good Tiger will do a good Lion .
An actual fact.

Theree are accounts of this fight going both ways

A good lion will do a good looking tiger though and you end up with a Liger which is the biggest of all big cats

In Hairy's defence, the Lion in question is actually a Hull City fan.

There's a controversial conservation project in South Africa "rewilding" tigers there.
